(OLD NEWS) XMM-Newton has uncovered a well-tuned periodic signal from a super-massive black hole lodged at the centre of a galaxy, ending a long quest for such an object.

On Wednesday scientists are set to turn on something called the Large Hadron Collider in an attempt to prove the theory of the big bang. A law suit has been lodged in the European Court for Human Rights to try to stop the God Machine being turned on due to fears that it may create a black hole that will suck the earth into another dimension.

German chemistry professor thinks it "quite plausible" that the "mini black holes" the CERN atom-smasher creates "will survive and grow exponentially and eat the planet from the inside" and has lodged an EU court lawsuit alleging that the project violates the right to life guaranteed under the European Convention of Human Rights.
